Margaret Edith Reardon (née Lombardo), 95, of River Edge, passed away on February 25, 2023. The daughter of southern-Italian immigrants and the youngest of seven children, Marge was born and raised in Hackensack, NJ. The “baby” of the family, she enjoyed many years playing with her siblings and friends in Hackensack and spending beautiful summers at her family’s home on Lake Erskine.
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from The Teachers College at Paterson, Marge was an elementary school teacher in River Edge for over 30 years (remembered fondly by one student as “a stickler”), and then proudly served another 14 years as a member of the River Edge Board of Education.
Marge loved to travel, and appreciated lovely things, fine dining, and the occasional glass of rosé (which she preferred to the red wine her father always made). She was sharp-witted, funny, fashionable, tenacious, loyal, and always made time for her family. Marge spent most weekends visiting with siblings and family for pastries, coffee (which she liked strong), or meals, and, for many years, would enjoy this time with them daily.
Marge was predeceased by her husband, Edward Reardon; her late-life companion, Guillaume Borremans; her parents, Mariantonia (née Carvelli) and John Battista (aka Richard) Lombardo; her brothers, Joseph Lombardo and Salvatore Lombardo; and her sisters, Mary Montenegro, Concetta Greenwood, Josephine Leonowich, and Elizabeth Metting. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, March 1st, 11 AM at Hackensack Cemetery. Arrangements: Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, River Edge.
