Carolyn A Kempf-Raimondi (nee McIlwain), 84, passed away on June 1, 2026.
Carolyn was born on February 10, 1942 in North Bergen, NJ to Louise and Earl McIlwain. She grew up in River Edge, and then raised her family in Paramus. Later in life, she moved to Wyckoff and eventually made her home at the Bristal Senior Living in Woodcliff Lake.
Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, great-grandmother and a cherished friend to many people. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures such as gathering with family, playing games with her grandchildren, reading a good book, spending time at the Jersey Shore or camping in Lake George. For much of her life, she was a homemaker and manager of her husband’s plumbing business in Bergen County. In 1996, after becoming widowed, she worked as a licensing clerk with the Borough of Old Tappan until retirement. Carolyn was happy to find love and companionship again when she remarried in 2006. Above all else, Carolyn will be remembered for her resilience, sense of humor and kindness.
Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Kempf, and son, David Kempf, her brother, Robert McIlwain, and her second husband, Louis Raimondi. Carolyn is survived by her brother, James McIlwain (Helen), daughters; Amy Kempf and Janice Pillon-Mingione (Dominic), niece Karly Kelso (Frank), grandchildren; Tim Pillon (Caitlin), Meghan Kempf and Haley Kempf, great grandson, TJ Pillon, step-children; Laura Ippoliti, David Raimondi, Chris Raimondi (Leann), and Michael Raimondi, and step-grandchildren; Joseph, Nicole, TJ, Andrew and Kim.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 4th, from 3-7 PM at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge. A Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 5, 2026, 10:00 AM. Carolyn will then be laid to rest at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ.
