Luigi V. Pidi, (Lou) (83), of River Edge, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on January 9, 2019 in hospice care at Sunrise Senior Living. Devoted father of Joanne Powers and her husband James, Robert Pidi and his wife Susan and preceded in death by his daughter Barbara. Cherished grandfather of James and his wife Catherine, Jennifer and Alexis, and great-grandfather of Giuliana and Declan. Lou was admired and loved by his nieces and nephews. A dear brother of Phyllis Guido. Preceded in death by his brother, Vito Pidi (1996) and sisters, Rose Fredricks (2018) and Theresa Golato (2018).
Lou was born and raised on Belmont Ave. in the Bronx to Josephine (née Lo Sapio) and Luigi Pidi. After moving his family in 1969 to Dumont, NJ he began his career as a printer with the Adams Group in New York City, and has been the owner of the River Edge News Service since 1971. From his eldest daughter to his last grandchild had worked in the family business. Louie took pride in that fact, and often commented that he didn’t think it would last through three generations.
Funeral Mass Monday, January 14th, 10:30 AM, St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, River Edge. Cremation will be private. Visiting Sunday, January 13th, 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Rd., River Edge.
