Rita Ursula Caccavale, 94, of River Edge, was brought back by God into her beloved husband Paul’s arms on their 71st wedding anniversary on September 13, 2024. She is survived by her loving daughters, Diane Caccavale and her fiancé Nicholas Tamargo, Susan (Glen) May, Linda (Richard) Thering, Jane (James) Elliot, Rita (Douglas) Koban, and Nancy (Stephen) Whittaker. She is also survived by her devoted sister, Anita Caruso. Rita is also survived by her devoted grandchildren, Jennifer (Joseph) Horton, Paul (Morgan) Thering, Michael Thering, Gina (Adam) Agderian, Joseph and Anthony Koban, Christina (Kevin) Grim, Stephanie (Andrew) Goldstein, and Nicholas (Stephanie) Whittaker, as well as her cherished great grandchildren, Deanna, Alana, and Grant Horton, Rose and Violet Thering, and Christopher, Charles, and Carmine Grim.

Rita was born on June, 26, 1930 in Union City to Zefferia and James Bugni. She married her beloved husband, Paul, on September 13th 1952, at St. Peter the Apostle Church in River Edge. Rita and Paul traveled the world together, making beautiful and deeply cherished memories. Soon after their marriage, they started a family together devoting their lives to six loving daughters. Rita remains an inspiration to her children, showing them what it means to be a wife, mother, and friend.

Rita’s passion in life was singing, she took great pride in the wonderful performances she put on at the Fair Lawn Senior Center along with being an avid member at the River Edge Senior Center. Rita will be truly missed by her friends and family.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 10 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 445 Fifth Avenue, River Edge, NJ 07661. Interment will follow at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, NJ.
