Vincent Sforza, 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Astoria, Queens in 1933 to Italian immigrants ,Alfredo and Nicoletta Sforza, Vinny was one of four brothers. He graduated from NYU and went on to work for the Department of Disabilities for the State of New York, where he worked until his retirement. It was at work that he met Mary Jo Tesoriero. The two were married and together welcomed their daughter, Lauren, in 1973. In 1978, the family moved from their native New York to River Edge, New Jersey, where they planted deep roots. Sadly, Mary Jo passed away in 1991. However Vinny found love and companionship once more in his life partner, Bonnie Neil. In 2009, his daughter Lauren married Matt Butcher, and they were blessed with their daughter, Macy, that same year.
Known for his tenderness and warmth, Vinny lived a full life, enjoying hobbies such as: crossword puzzles, traveling, exploring New York City with friends, and dining out (where his legendary appetite was on full display). He was a man who lived below his means, always stressing the importance of saving and planning for the future. When one would ask Vinny, “how are you”, he would often reply, “I live like a king,” and he encouraged those around him to do the same.
Vinny’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, you take a small piece of his advice: set aside a little money for your future, so you too, can live your life like Vinny — a king.
Vinny is survived by his life partner Bonnie, his daughter Lauren, his son-in-law Matt, his granddaughter Macy and his extended family and friends who will all miss him dearly, but his spirit will live on in all of their hearts, as they will forever cherish the memories of his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love.
