Helen L. Clark (née Doherty), 97, of River Edge, NJ died peacefully at her home on November 11, 2021. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Alvin Donald Clark (2007). Loving mother of Helen (Joseph) Boland, Dr. Elizabeth Clark, James (Eileen) D. Clark, Kathleen (Robert) Wilson. Cherished grandmother of Kathleen, Michael, Kevin, Mary, Katie, Bridget, Michael, Patrick, Christopher, Brendan, and Jennifer, and 11 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her daughter, Mary Clark (2016).
Helen was born in New York City, NY to Helen (née Drury) and James Doherty. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Barnard College. A founding member of St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Helen established the resource room for students and taught remedial reading. She was a long time member of the Rosary Society and St. Peter’s Quilting Group. Helen was also a Girl Scout Leader, an accomplished seamstress and avid reader. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 16th at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church from 10-11AM, immediately followed by the Funeral Mass at 11 AM. Helen will be laid to rest with her husband at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 445 Fifth Ave., River Edge, NJ 07661.
