John P. McGurn, 58, passed away peacefully in his home on January 19. A resident of River Edge, NJ, for 28 years, John was born on March 12, 1962 in Tampa, FL. A graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School, John went on to earn his BS in math from Providence College and an MBA from New York University. On November 2, 1991, John married the love of his life, Jeany Chin, and together they had two daughters, Elizabeth and Molly. John is survived by his loving mother and father, Mary and William McGurn of Northvale, NJ; his wife; his two adoring daughters; his siblings William, Brian, Janet, Kevin and Anne; his many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends; his godchildren— Sarah, Charles and Leslie. And Liz’s boyfriend Nicholas Anthony, whom John loved as a son.
John was a simple man who loved listening to country music, enjoying a beer, mowing the lawn, going down the Jersey Shore and spending time with friends and family. He lived for his children and was very involved in their activities, particularly basketball, and never missed a game. For John everything was about family, beginning with his bride of 30 years. John was a man of great faith and was involved in Respect Life, HSA and Parish Council at St. Peter the Apostle parish.
John was a devoted husband and outstanding father. He will be missed dearly.
