Obituary

It is with great sorrow to announce that Theresa Palma Halliday, (nee Compagnone) 85, of Paramus, has passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on September 28th, 2023– one month shy of her 86th Birthday. 

Theresa “Terry” was born in Hackensack, NJ on October 23, 1937 to Benedetto and Francesca Compagnone. She graduated from Hackensack High School in 1955. On September 21, 1958, Theresa and Fred married and went on to have 2 children together. 

Theresa worked as the receptionist at Salon La Meche for 21 years. Later on, she started working at Dellridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. Over the 21 years employed at Dellridge, Theresa did the residents’ hair and sang to them when the pianist would stop in. 

Aside from singing, Theresa enjoyed her crossword puzzles, liquid embroidery, watching The Golden Girls, The Lawrence Welk Show AND Blue Bloods. She absolutely loved cooking and made sure to always use her secret ingredient in every meal, love. 

Theresa was a devout Catholic who dedicated her life to the Blessed Mother, Jesus and caring for her family, friends and anyone else in need.   

Throughout her life, Theresa always put her faith in the Lord’s hands to get her through any and all challenges that came her way. 

Theresa is predeceased by her mother and father, Benedetto and Francesca Compagnone; brother, John Comp and her dedicated loving husband, Fred Halliday. 

Theresa is survived by her loving daughter and caretaker, Frances Halliday; three beloved grandchildren, Michael, Shannon and William Jr; brother, Richard Compagnone and his wife Beth; sister-in-law, Joanne Comp; niece, Catherine and husband Paul as well as 9 other nieces, nephews and their spouses.  Theresa also leaves behind her precious Schnoodle, Princess, who faithfully stayed at her side until the end. 

Please join us in celebrating the long life of an outstanding daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Visitation Tuesday, October 3rd, 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge, followed by a 12 Noon Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Visitation Church, Paramus.  Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
