Sheila Ann Lane (née Sutton), 80, of Newtown, CT (formerly of River Edge, NJ), passed away on March 14, 2026.  Predeceased by her husband, Edward F.P. Lane (2021).  Survived by her children Kathleen (Christopher) Caslin, Maureen Lane, Eileen (Fiachra) Grisewood, and her grandchildren Andrew, Kiera, Ronan and Orla.

Sheila was born on August 10, 1945 in Woodside, Queens, NY to Helen (née Smith) and Finn Sutton.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University and was a teacher for many years at St. Peter the Apostle School in River Edge, St. Anne’s School in Fair Lawn and later as a special education aide in the River Edge Public Schools. She loved raising her 3 girls with her beloved husband Ed.  Sheila and Ed and their girls enjoyed many memorable summers in their cherished Wellfleet, MA home.  Sheila also participated as a member of the Junior Women’s Club of River Edge and was an active member of the St. Peter the Apostle Parish Community.

A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge.  Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, 445 Fifth Avenue, River Edge.  Sheila will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Avenue, Mahwah, NJ.
