Robert (Bob) Harrison Banks Jr. passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2023. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margaret (née Walsh). He is survived by his children, Michael (Christine), James (Mags), and liz (Gavin) Stewart, as well as his sister, Marjorie (Michael) Fitzgerald, and grandchildren, Eric, Colleen, Jack, and Alexa.

Bob was born to Robert and Florence Banks in Jersey City and was a longtime resident of River Edge. He served in the Army while in his twenties and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. After his discharge, Bob was employed at Barton Press in West Orange, NJ as a lithographer. He was a member of the Amalgamated Lithographers Union, Local One, for forty years.

A truly unique and vivid character, Bob was a man of many stories — many of which featured his willingness to speak his mind and his irreverent sense of humor. Bob’s love of Long Beach Island, iced tea, and waffles was only eclipsed by one thing: his love of his grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on Sunday, October 22nd from 3:00pm-7:00pm at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Rd, River Edge, NJ 07661.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 23rd at 10:30am at Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, followed by an interment at 11:30am at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652.
