Margaret J. Mahoney, 88, of Paramus, died peacefully on June 19, 2019 at CareOne at the Cupola, Paramus where she resided for the past two years. Cherished sister-in-law of Natalie Mahoney. Loving aunt of Joseph Mahoney and his wife Kathleen, Natalie Charters, Cecilia Chookazian and her husband George, and Claire Kinney and her husband Kevin. Cherished grand aunt of Kristen Young, Daniel Mahoney, Michael Mahoney, John Charters, Ellyn Zarracina, Jack Kinney and Sean Kinney; great grand aunt of Lily, Tristan, Matthew, Luke, Sam, Ellie, James, Leyla and Audrey. Predeceased by her parents, dear brother, Joseph Mahoney, Sr. and sister, Cathleen Mahoney.

Margaret was born in Jersey City, NJ to Margaret (née Finn) and Daniel Mahoney. She was a Registered Nurse obtaining a Masters in Rehabilitation Therapy at NYU and having practiced at Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck for more than 45 years.

Margaret was an active parishioner at St. Peter the Apostle RC church for over 40 years. She was a devoted care-giver, an avid bowler and gardener. Margaret enjoyed the arts, especially music and theater, as well as reading, traveling and gardening. Having served in the US Air Force Reserve for over 25 years, she retired as a Colonel.

It would be impossible to capture the spirit of Margaret in this short space. She was a pearl, a great lady who will be forever remembered for her devotion to her family, her faithful service in her parish community and the many service communities in which she served, her humor, but most especially by her kindness to all. She was a joy to all who knew her and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visiting Tuesday, June 25th, 9-10 AM at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Road, River Edge. Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, River Edge. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
