Obituary

John V. Albano, 88, passed away on February 27, 2024.  John was a resident of Oradell for over 60 years, having moved his family from Bayonne, NJ in 1963.  He is survived by his wife of over 67 years, Katherine (née Czarneski), a daughter Ann Marie Albano of Emerson, a grandson Michael Albano of Oradell, a sister Phyllis Adamkowski of Union.  Predeceased by his son John V. Albano, Jr. (2002).

Professionally, John was a mechanical engineer, holding Mechanical Engineer and Master of Science degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology.  His engineering career spanned 48 years in diversified fields, including marine propulsion, aerospace and petrochemical plant design.  He holds a number of patents and has authored numerous technical papers in his field.  He was a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronauts (AIAA) and was a lifetime member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).  John is also listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, and other similar publications.

In addition, John was an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University where he taught evening courses in mechanical engineering for 25 years.  After retiring in 2004, John pursued his life-long interest in oil painting.  He joined the Ridgewood Art Institute (RAI) and took painting lessons from established artists for many years.  His work was displayed at shows at RAI and at the Art Center of Northern N.J., New Milford.  A few pieces were sold at a local gallery.  Numerous paintings were given to family and friends, and donated to fundraisers at RAI.

Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, March 7th, 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Rd., River Edge.  His cremains will be laid to rest at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah on Friday, March 8th, 11:00 AM.
