Israel deJesus, 62, of Maywood, NJ (formerly Secaucus and Jersey City) entered into eternal life on July 8, 2023. Beloved husband of Michele (nee Maietti) deJesus. Devoted father of Rebekah and Joshua deJesus. Dear son of Maria Reyes, the late Israel deJesus, and cherished son-in-law to Albert Maietti and the late Jeanette Maietti. Dear brother of Laura Morales, her husband Mario, and the late Ana deJesus. Dear brother-in-law and friend to Michael Maietti, his wife Johanna, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Israel was born in Jersey City, NJ and was a Senior Deckhand with New York Waterway for over 25 years. He was one of the heroes of “Boatlift 9/11”, the maritime evacuation of Manhattan, rescuing over 8,000 people. A true man of God and graduate of Zion Bible College, Israel remained valiant and strong in his faith, leaving behind a legacy for his children and all who knew him. He touched the hearts of all who crossed his path, sharing the life-saving message of Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
