Donald Charles Younger (1935 – 2025)
Donald Charles Younger, 90, of River Edge, NJ, died peacefully with family by his side on August 25, 2025. He was born in Staten Island, NY in 1935 to Charles and Eleanor Younger and moved to River Edge as a kid, attending Roosevelt Elementary School.
Donald proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the New Jersey National Guard in the 1960s, and he served his community as a River Edge Auxiliary Police Officer in the 1970s. A rarety these days, he spent his entire career at Bell Telephone (now Verizon), retiring in 2000.
Donald’s hobbies, both learned in childhood, were ham radio and pistol shooting. He was a longtime member of the Bergen Amateur Radio Association, and his call sign was W2JEK. He was also a Master Class pistol shooter and belonged to the Fair Lawn Pistol & Rifle Club for decades. He was an active member of the Second Reformed Church of Hackensack and a faithful Christian.
Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Nancy, and is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Beyer and her husband Timothy, of Fair Lawn and Kristen Younger, of River Edge. He was also a proud Grandpa who treasured his time with Lily Beyer.
Visitation is from 3-7 pm on Thursday, August 28th at the Beaugard McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Rd, River Edge, NJ. Funeral is at 10 am on Friday, August 29th at the Second Reformed Church of Hackensack, 436 Union St, Hackensack, NJ. Interment will immediately follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Paramus, NJ.
