Obituary

Concetta Kallas, 97, of New Milford, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2023

Concetta (Tina) was born in 1926 in Bronx, NY to Maria and Emanuele Cioffi. She grew up with her brother John Cioffi (deceased) and sister Aida (Cioffi) Mariani (deceased).

She was married to Anthony (Tony) Kallas (deceased) of Queens, NY in 1956 and resided in West New York for a short period of time before moving to New Milford in 1963. Early in life, Tina enjoyed living and working in New York city where she and her friends loved to go dancing to Big Band music and make the most out of the 1940’s social scene. Tina loved her family, friends and neighbors and was happiest when socializing with others. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with her family in New Milford. During her career, she provided loving childcare services to dozens of families and their children, many of whom remain close friends to this day.

After retiring, Tina enjoyed travel and was able to visit almost all 50 states, as well as Italy. These years were probably some of her happiest of her life as she experienced so many interesting locations and wonders with her dear sister and brother-in-law. Later in life, Tina continued to live in the comfort of her New Milford home and found contentment and connection to her neighbors and friends nearby.

Surviving Tina are daughter Doreen (Kallas) Sowinski and husband Joseph Sowinski of Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania, son Glen Kallas and wife Barbara Kallas of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, grandchildren Joseph Sowinski, Michael Sowinski and wife Carrie Sowinski, Christopher Kallas and wife Amanda Kallas, Daniel Kallas and wife Anna Kallas, Alexa Kallas and great grandchildren Phoenix Sowinski, Savannah Sowinski and Joshua Sowinski.

A visitation and celebration of life will be held at the Beaugard-McKnight Funeral Home, 869 Kinderkamack Rd., River Edge, NJ 07661 from 10 am – 1 pm on Saturday, May 13, 2023 followed by the funeral at George Washington Cemetery, Paramus, NJ. Her family will be present to welcome all loved ones.
