She is survived by her loving husband, William DeSanctis, and her devoted children, Michael (Colleen), Laura (Ken), Jeanne (Jack), and Joseph DeSanctis. Cherished grandmother of Chloe (Cody), Christian, Sophia, and Bella, and beloved great-grandmother to Reese and Remi. She was also a dear sister to Joan and Arthur (Ginny).

Born in the Bronx, NY, Arlene began her career at the world-famous Bronx Zoo, where she sold souvenirs. It was there that she met her husband, William. Together, they later relocated their growing family to River Edge, NJ.

Arlene was a shining beacon of pure love and light, embodying all that is good in this world. With radiant blue-green-grey eyes, she was a true beauty both inside and out. She was a selfless mother who expressed her love through her expert baking, cooking, and unwavering support for her athletic children and grandchildren. Her Christmas cookies, especially her legendary Venetians, will forever be remembered as symbols of her love and skill.

Arlene loved the ocean and found joy and serenity in its embrace. She continued to swim in the ocean until her late 60s, a testament to her vibrant spirit and love of the water.

Arlene brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Whether playing Scrabble or Rummikub, being silly with her grandchildren, or simply enjoying life’s moments, she shared her fun-loving spirit with all who knew her. She lived with a pure, Christ-like heart, exemplified by her many charitable acts, including years of service at the soup kitchen. She cared deeply for everyone around her and will be forever loved by so many.
